OUR COWS...
We are making big changes at the farm preparing for this new year, opening a new company in town and to rearrange our daily work load to make life easier to manage. We lost our son on Christmas night 2024. Cody was a big part of our lives and the farm, maintaining our fields and just being our son...he will live on in our hearts and memories...but it is tough on us finding that "new normal".
We are currently selling a few of our cows and bulls to bless other farms, to reach our goal of reduction. Please give us a call if you are interested in any remaining cows or bulls we have selected to let go to new farms. This is not a fire sale, but simply making our farm easier to manage day to day.
Some have already been sold in private sales. We also have a few who have simply aged out and will just pastured here until they cross the rainbow bridge naturally...they will not be bred again...they have earned their retirement!
Get 'em while they last! :-)

~ WE CHOOSE EXCELLENCE AND HONESTY AS OUR STANDARDS ~

We raise and train, small dairy cows for families who want their own dairy supply. We DO NOT sell to dairies, nor do we sell "pets", except for smaller steers on occasion. All of our hand raised cattle are pet friendly.

Our cattle are disease tested (and negative) twice yearly for BLV, BVD and Johne's. We also randomly test for Neospora and other diseases in our herd...they remain negative to date. We do not vaccinate our herd, with the only exception of Brucella, if we intend to sell the heifer at some point before maturity. We maintain a strictly closed herd and test any purchased animals twice prior to blending with our herd. WSF is a TB free farm.

Our focus is primarily miniature at maturity in size followed by excellent confirmation, well attached udders, gentle temperaments, natural polling, select superb pedigrees and the original Island Jersey "look". And of course, we love our paints! :-)

We do not own any cattle that are Chondrodysplasia (BD1-BD2) positive. Current test results are provided with every sale. All of our calves (including our bulls) are hand raised by us, receive colostrum direct from their dams for the first 3 - 4 days of life, then are bottle fed from their own dams' milk until weaning at 3-5 months. They are handled daily to assure that they grow up gentle and compatible with humans as their caregivers. All of our cattle are grass fed on regularly mowed, unsprayed pastures, supplemented with non-GMO Chaffhaye and certified organic alfalfa pellets given at milking time.

We do not post cattle photos on these pages that we no longer own (unless noted) or are deceased to make our pages appear full, as some sites will do. If the cow has been sold or is deceased, it will clearly stated.
Our photos and/or information on this website are copyright protected and may not be used public or private, without our prior written consent. All photos and heights posted are current. All of our cattle are DNA parent confirmed.

You've seen the rest, now buy the best!
Enjoy your tour of our farm and let us know if you have any questions. :-)

Spring has quickly found its way back to the NGA mountains! Tiger Lillies are blooming everywhere and the Azalea's are blooming in abundance!
I LOVE Springtime! :-)

WHITE STAR FARM PICKLES
photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

Miss Pickles is turning out to be a farm favorite. She is very small and we are hoping that she grows more, to breed her. We are not interested in "micro" mini's here.

If Pickles meets our requirements for height as well as body condition, we will breed her in late Jan/Feb, for her first calf. If not, we will wait a few more months to give her time to grow.

Miss Pickles has now been confirmed in calf with either WSF Cisco or WSF Deacon. Either sire will be a great bloodline....due late 2025 or early 2026.

She is always the richest caramel color when she sheds out.

Mis Tia Maria has been confirmed in calf with WSF Cisco for a late 2025 calf! Fingers crossed for a nice heifer!

WHITE STAR FARM BLEU BONNET

We were so pleased to find this little heifer already standing and by her dam in the field. She is the very first offspring out of our bull WSF Peter Piper...and what a gift she is! Bonnet will be retained to carry on her mama's genetics on our farm. She is currently in calf with our visiting bull, WSF Cheddar, for her first calf in April of 2025. We could not ask for a better or more beautiful heifer to carry on for her lineage!

Miss Bonnet has delivered a bull calf (WSF Eclipse)...not sure yet if he will be steered or saved for breeding. His sire is visting bull, WSF Cheddar. Miss Bonnet is milking 3 gal on twice daily milking! See her pics below in the parlor. :-)

B H WINNIE
photo taken: 10.04.2024 - will be retained

We purchased a small group from some dear friends in VA and Miss Winnie was in the group. She gave us a beautiful heifer, WSF Inez, as her first calf, then WSF Roxie as her second and now has delivered WSF Dove. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

She has continued to give yet another painted heifer, WSF Phoebe, for 2024! Four heifers in a row!

Winnie has actual Jersey Island genetics in her and they come through in her calves!

Winnie is most excellent about standing to milk untied, and is the first at the door when it comes her turn to enter the parlor! She is dried off, bred back to calve early Spring 2025...nothing at all slack about this cow!

B H Winnie has delivered a fine bull calf and he is her first bull! She broke her cycle of all heifers to date with this gorgeous bull. We have named him "WSF Renegade Red" after his great grand sire....thank you Lord for a quick and safe delivery! :-)

WSF LITTLE DOVE
photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

When Dove was born, we thought we had lost her...she was lifeless, but after working with her for a bit, she came around and is doing fine today. If she had been a bull, we'd have named her "Lazarus"!! She has an almost perfect white "dove" as her star, hence, her name.

Dove has been bottle raised with her friend, Bleu Bonnet and the two have become inseparable! Cows do indeed develop friendships and these two are 'besties".

Miss Dove has delivered a very small bull calf, but he was breech and did not survive. She is doing fabulously in the parlor as a first time freshener!

ANSLEY MARTIN'S MINNIE
photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

AM Minnie is a mature cow. She is a gentle milking cow now, but came to us quite wild...she had never been loved on with a gentle hand, nor milked. She will live her life out here at our farm because she doesn't trust new people easily. It took us a year to get her to trust us. :-) She allows us to milk and handle her now and seems to enjoy it, but is still very wary of strangers. Her udder is poorly attached in the rear and is not the best from past mishandling, but we deal with it and she milks out completely for us.

Miss Minnie did not calve in 2024 and we are not sure why. We did a medical protocol and she has now tested pregnant...will recheck her in two months to be sure. Will keep posted here with the results.

Minnie's pedigree is a historical one, since she comes from the original farm and stock of Ralph Martin (now deceased) and Martin is considered the original "godfather" of this breed by people in the know. He is credited for being one of the first few to originate this breed that we enjoy today. His only son (Ansley) carries on his fathers' legacy still today with descendants from Martin's original herd. The Martin's never participated in any registry, so we do not know exact parentage on Minnie. We love this beautiful cow!

Registered Name: Ansley Martin's Minnie

Registration # MJHB0681

Date of Birth: 14 Jun 2013

Sire: unknown

Dam: unknown

Beta Casein: a1/a2

Horns: Homo Polled

Height: 41" @ 11 years

WHITE STAR FARM LIL' ANGEL
photo taken: 10.04.2024 - pending decision

Our sweet little Angel has not disappointed us yet. We waited and waited for a second nice heifer from her grand dam, Antoinette...and got Angel's dam, WSF Seraphina...Angel then came to us through Phina...she has certainly not disappointed!

Miss Angel has been placed with WSF Cisco and WSF Deacon for her next calf, to be confirmed at the end of March.

Angel's pedigree goes back to one of the very best in this breed, to Terry Lawson, of Virginia. We are pleased to be able to continue these lines on our farm for the future of this breed. Angel is the epitome of what a miniature Jersey should look like...petite, with all of the Island Jerseys compliments.

WFF ROSIE (Pearlie Girlie)
photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

WFF Rosie (Pearlie Girlie) was bred and born from from a breeding pair we sold a family in Indiana. They wanted her to come back to us and we gladly accepted.

Pearlie Girlie has bloodlines in her on both sides that we would love to keep on our farm for years into the future...WSF Bugsy, BH Ruby's sire by AI and Capt Nemo is out of our cow, JA Buttercup (seen above). She is a dinky little heifer and as beautiful as her mama! We are thrilled they called us first!

Pearlie Girlie has now been placed with WSF Cisco and WSF Deacon for her first calf late 2025. We can't wait to see offspring from these two superb young bulls!

Registration Name: WFF Rosie (Pearlie Girlie)

WHITE STAR FARM FIREFLY
photo taken: 08.28.2024 - SOLD

Miss Firefly will be retained long term here at the farm. She is the only daughter we've kept from Frazier's Emma and want to continue her consistently small lines here. Firefly is a cookie cutter version of her mama. She was bottle fed for gentleness and is a delight to own. She is a light fawn in coloring, with one small white patch, but colors change quickly in cattle, from season to season. She milks easily and peaked at about 3.5 gallons on twice daily milking with her first lactation.

Fly comes to her name when called as we train them here to do...she is just a most excellent little milk cow!

Miss Firefly has been confirmed in calf with WSF Peter Piper for her next calf due in late 2025.

Registered Name: White Star Farm Firefly
Registration # MJHB1530

Date of Birth: 26 Dec 2020

Sire: WSF Boomerang

B&P MILLIE

photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

When I first saw this heifers' photo, it certainly caught my eye....I wanted her for our farm. :-) I inquired if she was for sale, and to my surprise, she said "yes"!

Miss MIllie has been placed with WSF Cisco and WSF Deacon for her first calf, due in late 2025. ...she has been confirmed pregnant. High hopes for the offspring out of this pairing!

We are super pleased to have this little Millie for our future genetics. I have kept my eye on her dam for many years. Millie is a gorgeous and super gentle little heifer...we don't see many almost "white" Jerseys! We look forward to her future here with us. We are also purchasing her full sister (Eady, by AI breeding)....she will arrive in early 2025, good Lord willing!

Registered Name: B&P Millie

Registration #: MJHB1895

ELEVAGE FARM ESME

photo taken: 05.06.2025 - retained

We have decided to purchase this calf from our local friends, after she was offered to us. What a blessing she is! Her owner purchased our twin heifers a few years ago. We sold her the semen to breed them for their first calves...and Esme is one of those calves. We then brought the twins with their new calves here to train to milk....and to get the calves on bottle. Then they were returned home.

Esme will be raised here and trained to milk as a future provider for us. We are thrilled to be able to own her and her bloodlines on our farm. We are grateful and honored to have Esme call White Star Farm, home. :-)

Registered Name: Elevage Farm Esme

White Star Farm Bleu Willow

photo taken: 04.27.2025

Oh my goodness! We were surprised this morning at the barn with little "Willow" standing by her mama's side digging to find her breakfast! Evidently Buttercup had just delivered, as Willow was still pretty wet. I thank the good Lord that both are doing well. This birth seems to have breathed new life in to Buttercup, soon to be 14 years old. She has earned her retirement. So thankful for a nice heifer to carry on with her full sister, WSF Bleu Bonnet.

Registered Name: White Star Farm Bleu Willow

Registration #: MJHB2067

Around the farm...

These are photos from various days around the farm and they are updated
continuously throughout the year.

Meet Big Red and ****!

Big Red HAD a girlfriend named "Brenda"...key word here, "had". Miss Brenda decided to nest in the woods and something got her. The eggs were already cold, so we lost her and her babies. Now, looking for a new girlfriend or two for Big Red. Updates when we locate them! Big Red patrols his barnyard for us...better than a security dog! lol

We did raise out 7 poults to almost 18lbs for Thanksgiving! And they were delish! Will try again this year. :-)

Andy, the Peacock...

I have always admired Peafowl...and finally get to own some. We now have several juvenile Black Shouldered peahens, one India Blue peahen and one India Blue peacock...truly amazingly beautiful birds! He is trying out his new style, showing off for the girls and me! From my research, these birds can live up to 50 years if taken care of.

Andy is five years old now and coming into his full plummage.

Although still young, he'll be fiercely beautiful one day! :-)

My hiding place...

We put a beautiful flower garden in a few years ago. It has now grown together and filled the space well and is my place of peace. There is color from something blooming, for each month of the year.

Set time aside each day to enjoy God's beauty around you, be thankful and content with what you have and spend time with Him in His written Word, the Holy Bible and prayer.
You can and will find true peace with Him. :-)

Andy, the Peacock watching over the farm...

These very large birds are nothing short of amazing. What on earth was God thinking when He created such beauty for us to enjoy?? The colors, patterns, sizes, habits...so amazing! :-)

We were told by his breeder, that they are not tamable, to enjoy them from pens. Ours roam the barnyard freely and have been here over four years now. So, don't tell them they are not supposed to be free...:-) This photo was taken as he got to his post to watch over his girls.

Two cows, one 6 gallon pail full!

We love our fresh dairy and our little cows that produce it for our family. Great cheeses will come out of this pail!

Our first turkey poults....

Our young poults are growing fast! We were told that they are super difficult to live and get to maturity, but Brenda did her job well. She hatched, then raised them to 8 weeks, and we took over. Can you say "Thanksgiving"? This is our first try at our own meatbirds....more later. :-)

Custom peahen light bar....

Hey! Let's go for a ride! The third hen is in the bed of the Kubota...silly birds! These are two and a half yrs old Black Shouldered Pea Hens. They have names but we cannot tell them apart!

God smiled at me!

I was picking the Hatch chilis, when one snapped off its cap. Once back in the house, I looked at the end and there was a SMILEY FACE staring back at me! Thank you, Jesus! This made my day! :-)

Our cows are trained and handled from birth, to milk in the future. When they come fresh for the first time, they know what to expect. At that time, we train them to milk without halters, tying or use of a stanchion....they just stand patiently while we wash them, milk by hand or machine, dip them to prevent mastitis, then turn them out in the field for grazing. This is why we call them "family milk cows". We give them a treat of non GMO Chaffhaye and organic alfalfa pellets as a top dressing treat, to thank them for their bounty. We never use grains with our cows in milk or with our bulls. When pastures are sparse, we use alfalfa/orchard hay in the manger as an additional treat.

WSF Little Dove - 04.12.2025

Little Dove is a first calf heifer as well as this is her first freshening. She is doing most excellent! We train all of our cows to milk untied and without halters. We've never owned a stanchion in all the years we've been milking. This is how we train our girls. :-) Dove is about one week fresh in this photo and stand perfectly for us.

BH Winnie - 04.10.2025

Miss Winnie has given us FOUR a2a2 heifers in a row and presented us with a gorgeous a2a2 bull calf this time! The sire is confirmed to be WSF Peter Piper. Winnie will break through the door to come in to milk "first"! She is an alpha cow, but is super gentle...and milks like a dream...empties fast and completely. Hoping her heifers grow up to do the same! Winnie has a Jersey Island bull as her great grandsire on both sides of her lineage....La Peperinere Renegade. Beginning to shed out the winter coat now. :-)

WSF Bleu Bonnet - 04.12.2025

Miss Bonnet is also a first calf heifer as well as this is her first time fresh. We train all of our heifers and cows to stand for us, without a stanchion being used. We begin working with them about two weeks before they calve, to get them used to how we milk here. Bonnet did great on her first time! No kicking or moving away...they eat their treats and comply nicely. This is what family milk cows are all about! :-)

WSF Firefly - 02.12.2022

Miss Firefly is out of Frazier's Emma, a fabulous MJ milk cow! She turns very blond after shedding out from winter. Don't let the small stature of this little golden white cow fool you! Firefly is a cookie cutter version of her mama. She is waiting to be hooked up to the machine...a very patient first calf heifer with a beautiful and well attached udder.
